Who Is Mouth Public Relations?

Boasting more than 140 clients (both past and present) since its inception in 2006, Mouth Public Relations, LLC, founded by Justin Loeber, celebrates its fifth anniversary in 2011.  In conjunction with this milestone, the agency is thrilled to add to its list of clients: “Operation Respect,” a 12-year-old, 501(c) 3 organization headed by music icon and activist Peter Yarrow; Ramy Cosmetics, created by celebrity makeup artist and critically-acclaimed “Eyebrow King” Ramy Gafni; and internationally-renowned sculptor and artist Mimi Sammis.  Mouth Public Relations will represent these new clients as their PR Agency of Record.  Mouth Public Relations also represents high-profile attorney and legal analyst Lisa Bloom for her book, Think; “Cousin Brucie” Morrow’s Rock and Roll; and Carly Simon’s children’s book, Take Me Out to the Ballgame, which follows on the heels of successful kid-focused campaigns for Neil Sedaka; Peter, Paul and Mary; and Judy Collins, whose Over the Rainbow became a New York Times Best Seller while under the PR watch of the company.

Mouth Public Relations has grown from a company of one, working out of a bedroom, to more than four, out of their offices in the Flatiron District in New York City, and has celebrated a growth pattern of 200 to 270 percent each year since its inception.  The services offered to clients include pitching and booking national and local, TV, radio, and print; social Internet marketing; crisis management; B2B PR; pitching speaking engagements; press release writing; media prepping—for every client signed to the company; and event planning, as example.

Under the umbrella of many of these services, the agency proudly represented the MUSIC App, created by celebrity photographer and filmmaker Andrew Zuckerman; high-profile photographer Phil Toledano for his website and book, Days with My Father; The Lifeboard, a goal-setting box system for managing your dreams and aspirations; Whitelines, an award-winning revolutionary stationery company from Sweden; ATS, the number one social Internet community for anyone interested in aliens and conspiracy theories; City Lights Youth Theatre, a non-profit organization dedicated to garnering self-esteem for youth through theatre and performance; HALO, Purely for Pets, the country’s first holistic pet care company; Danny Seo, one of the country’s first eco-lifestyle experts; investigative journalist Diane Dimond; Michaele and Tareq Salahi, the high-profile couple first known as the “White House Gate Crashers” and later for Bravo’s The Real Housewives of DC, for the announcement that Michaele suffers from Multiple Sclerosis; former US Attorney Kendall Coffey, author of Spinning the Law; Republican powerhouse Ken Blackwell, for his book, The Blueprint; HLN TV’s Jane Velez-Mitchell’s New York Times best-selling book, iWant; Mary Jo Buttafuoco’s New York Times best-selling book, Getting It Through My Thick Skull; ESPN commentator Kenny Mayne’s book, An Incomplete and Inaccurate History of Sport;  the 10th Anniversary Edition of Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom; and the School of Visual Arts’ 21st and 22nd Annual Dusty Film and Animation Festival and Awards, to name a few.

Mouth Public Relations is also proud to have launched, and still represent, New York Times best-selling author, filmmaker, Internet star, and inspiring cancer survivor Kris Carr, whose newest tome, Crazy Sexy Diet, debuted on the New York Times Best-Seller list (Advice/How-To), at number 6.  Because of the Agency’s outreach, Kris has signed a deal with Natural Health magazine, as Contributing Editor.  Clients Peter Abaci, M.D., author of Take Charge of Your Chronic Pain, has just signed on as WebMD’s Pain and Management Expert, and Ronald Kotler, M.D., author of 365 Ways to Get a Good Night’s Sleep, signed on as the Sleep Specialist for AOL Health's Medical Advisory Board.

During its first five years, Mouth was instrumental in garnering agent book deals for Tom Sturges (Parking Lot Rules, published by Ballantine Books) and Brooke and Keith Desserich (Notes Left Behind, published by William Morrow). Mouth was also proud to be the PR Agency of Record for The Globe Pequot Press, Cider Mill Press Book Publishers, and Imagine! Publishing.

Meet the Big Mouth: Justin Loeber

Prior to founding Mouth Public Relations, Justin Loeber has held many corporate executive and managerial roles, including Senior Vice President, Executive Marketing and Publicity Director for Regan, which was an imprint of HarperCollins (News Corporation). He is a former Vice President, Director of Publicity for Atria, an imprint of Simon and Schuster (Viacom); Publicity Director for Ecco (HarperCollins); and Director of Publicity for Running Press Book Publishers. Loeber was one of the first publicists hired at Broadway Books (Bertelsmann), was a publicist at William Morrow (Hearst), and started his publishing career at Villard (Random House).

Over the course of his career, Loeber has restructured four publicity departments, managed groups of up to 35 employees, and was responsible for publicity and marketing budgets exceeding $500,000. He has created nationally recognized campaigns in practically every subject area—for celebrities, fashion icons, sports stars, designers, novelists, doctors, lawyers, animal lovers, non-profit organizations, restaurateurs, a presidential candidate, and even one prime minister.

Loeber has spearheaded publicity campaigns for Michael Jordan, Lawrence Taylor, Cindy Crawford, Olympia Dukakis, Tommy Lee, Pamela Anderson, Anthony Bourdain, Ewan McGregor, Tom Perkins, Gloria Allred, Frank Warren, Reverend Berneice King (Martin Luther King Jr.’s daughter), Kevin Liles (Executive Vice President, Warner Music Group), Marlo Thomas, Wanda Sykes, movie producer Lynda Obst, David Margolick, LeRoy Neiman, Blair Underwood, Jon Gruden, Leon Uris, Diane McKinney-Whetstone, Jack Newfield, Lawrence Schiller, Tony Brown, Celia Cruz, Bill Blass, Dr. Andrew Weil, Lloyd Boston, Dr. Dean Edell, Peter Singer (father of the modern-day Animal Rights Movement), and Aron Ralston (the young Colorado-mountain climber whose story was depicted in “127 Hours,” starring James Franco). Loeber was also instrumental in brokering two book deals at publishing houses he worked for:  John Leguizamo’s, Pimps, Hos, Playa Hatas, and All the Rest of My Hollywood Friends (Ecco); and for Patrik Henry Bass and Karen Pugh’s, In Our Own Image: Treasured African-American Traditions, Journeys & Icon (Running Press Book Publishers).

On the first anniversary of 9/11, Loeber was the only publicist at ground zero in Shanksville, PA, where he represented New York Times reporter Jere Longman and his book, Among The Heroes. He also managed national publicity for Singapore’s Senior Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew, who shared his political manifesto with the U.S., and orchestrated a publicity tour for Colombian presidential candidate Ingrid Betancourt whose book, Until Death Do Us Part, exposed the tragic underground affiliation between her country’s government and its drug cartels. When Betancourt was later abducted by FARC kidnappers in the jungles of her homeland, Loeber secured national media for her family, pleading for her release. This PR campaign sparked the creation of the award-winning documentary and HBO film Missing Peace by Victoria Bruce and Karin Hayes. (Ingrid Betancourt was rescued from her captors in July 2008.)

A highly creative campaigner, Loeber is skilled at brainstorming ideas with corporate sponsors and has worked closely with major brands such as Nike, Wrigley’s Doublemint Gum, Lava-Simplex Internationale, Mexx, Saks, and Outside, to name a few. Prior to his career as a corporate publicist, Loeber promoted and managed restaurants. In the 1980s he was a solo pop recording artist in the United Kingdom, where he was discovered by and toured with English music legend Gary Numan.
